Q: "Yo-nuts", "Jow-nuts"..."J-oo-nuts"? What's with the J in Joughnuts and how do I pronounce it anyway?

A: Joughnuts, pronounced "jo-nuts" to rhyme with donuts (or the Canadian spelling, "doughnuts"), is named after Jon, one of our team members. Jon loved making his vegan doughnuts for our family and friends. They were such a hit that his doughnuts became affectionately known as "Joughnuts" for the J in his name.

 

During the pandemic of 2020, like many, Jon took up baking and cooking. Eventually, other members of his family joined in. And so, Joughnuts Doughnuts was born! Now we get to live our dream of bringing our delicious vegan doughnuts to you while also #sharingthedough with many great organizations benefitting both animals and humans. 

Q: Are all of your products really vegan?

A: Yes! Our doughnuts are proudly vegan and contain absolutely no animal products. This means no dairy, no eggs, no honey, or anything else that comes from an animal. The facility where our doughnuts are produced is also completely vegan. Hooray!

Q: Are your doughnuts nut and/or soy free? Do you have a list of possible allergens?

A:  Joughnuts Doughnuts is NOT a nut free facility. All of our products may contain traces of nuts and soy. 

Possible allergens: 

  • Dough: wheat, chickpeas, coconut

  • Glazes & buttercream: soy, corn

  • Some doughnuts contain nuts as toppings 

  • All products may contain traces of nuts and soy

Q: Do you have a storefront location? Can I walk into your location and buy doughnuts on site?

A: As much as we would love to have our own store one day, we presently do not have a storefront location. We are a small business run by four doughnut loving individuals just starting out. We share a space and commercial kitchen with vegan catering company Veggie Paradise. We are located inside their store on Saturdays.

 

We make our doughnuts for pre-order online only. Pick ups of pre-orders are on Saturdays between 12:00-4:00pm. Sorry, no walk-ins. 

Q: Why do you only offer pre-orders for Saturdays? 

A: We are a small family/friend run business and a team of four. That's right- everything we do from preparing our hand-cut and hand-decorated vegan doughnuts, social media, website, and photography is all done solely by the four of us. We all still hold regular day jobs during the week and this is why we are only able to operate on Saturdays for the time being. However, our passion is making our doughnuts, giving back to fantastic human and animal-based charities/organizations, and getting to meet amazing new people at our shop! We hope to one day open our own storefront, but currently we have to keep our batches small in order to ensure we deliver high quality products to our customers.

Q: Do you have gluten free options?

A:  Unfortunately, we do not offer gluten free options.  

 

Q: Are your doughnuts made fresh?

A: Our pre-ordered doughnuts are made fresh on Saturday morning for pick up between 12:00 - 4:00pm that day. 

Q: Can I select the individual doughnuts in my order? 

A: Pre-orders are only for six (6) assorted doughnut flavours offered that week in our Tasters Box. With the exception of cinnamon sugar or original glaze, you currently cannot order flavours that are not on the Tasters Box menu for the week. 

 

Flavour selections offered in our Tasters Box change each week so there is always something different to try!

 

Q: Can I substitute/swap a flavour for another flavour offered in the Tasters Box for that week?

A: Absolutely! If you would like to swap out one flavour for another flavour available in our Tasters Box selection for the week, click on "add a note" at checkout and let us know. With swaps, you may have two (2) of the same flavour per box unless otherwise specified. You may also swap for cinnamon sugar or original glaze at anytime.  

With the exception of cinnamon sugar and original glaze, you cannot order flavours that are not on the Tasters Box menu for the week.

 

If you would like to order more than two (2) of a specific flavour, an additional charge may apply. Please contact us joughnuts.ca@gmail.com or via Facebook/Instagram messenger @joughnuts.ca for inquiries.

Q: Do you offer delivery?

A: We do not offer deliveries at this time. Our doughnuts are for pick-up only. We're always happy to meet our customers! 

Q: I have placed my order, but now I cannot come in to pick it up on Saturday. What should I do?

A: Orders must be picked up by the customer on Saturday between 12:00-4:00pm. We do not offer refunds, credits, or transfers for orders that are not picked up on their scheduled date.

However, if you know at least one (1) day in advance that you cannot make it to pick up your order, please email us as soon as possible at  joughnuts.ca@gmail.com  or via Instagram or Facebook messenger.

Q: How long do your doughnuts stay fresh?

A: Our doughnuts are made fresh every Saturday morning. Doughnuts are best consumed the day they were prepared. If you bought too much or can't finish them all, we recommend freezing them in an air tight container right away. They can be thawed at room temperature or lightly toasted in a toaster oven when you're ready to eat them again. 

Q: Why is there a dog in your logo?

A: We have two adored and very spoiled family pugs named Winston and Shelby. The pug is also a majestic, food loving creature with a built in cinnamon bun for a tail. It just made sense that a pug would be perfect for our logo. Winston and Shelby also serve as CEOs of Joughnuts Doughnuts and take their roles very seriously. :p
